How Hot is Microsoft’s Zune?

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006 | Tech News | 1 Comment

Zune Music PlayerWell, some analysts say, “Not so hot.”  Troy Wolverton of Mercury News takes a look at Zune’s performance a month after its debut.  The results aren’t as hot as one may have predicted.  Its not having the effect some may have expected to on its rival Apple’s iPod.  iPod continues to dominate the MP3 player market.  Currently, 30GB iPod ranks #1 on Amazon.com among the bestselling technology products.  In comparison Zune is ranked No. 47.  Microsoft doesn’t seem to be concerned.  They are confident that they will reach their goal of 1 million units sold by the end of this fiscal year.

Did Microsoft Copy OS X to Create Windows Vista?

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006 | Mac vs Windows, Reviews | No Comments

Windows Vista LogoTechnology columnist David Pogue at New York Times doesn’t think so.  Or does he?  Apple posted a review of Windows Vista on its site.  When I saw it, I couldn’t help but wonder, is Apple trying to bridge the divide, reach across the isle?  Or is this another attempt to mock Microsoft?  Questions were flying through my head.  So, I didn’t delay much longer and clicked on the link.  To find out what happened next, you’ll have to click on the link too.   Review: Windows Vista.

Once you’ve seen the video let me know what you think.

Microsoft Exec Would Rather Get a Mac

Saturday, December 16th, 2006 | Mac Resources | No Comments

As Microsoft continues to battle antitrust law suits, evidence has been revealed that one of Microsoft’s top development executives would buy a Mac if he didn’t work for Microsoft.  In an Iowa trial, Comes vs. Microsoft Corp., a copy of a 2004 email from James Allchin was presented as evidence.  In this email to Steve Ballmer and Bill Gates, Allchin who is a co-president of Microsoft’s platform and services division writes that Microsoft has lost the vision of what it means to produce great products and tells them that he would buy a Mac if he was not employed by Microsoft.  This report comes through Computerworld.com.

This email was written more that 2 years ago.  Since then Apple has released several upgrades to OS X and Microsoft is finally releasing Vista.  I wonder if Allchin would still choose OS X over Windows or has Microsoft been able to regain the vision of what it means to produce great products.
