Jobs and Gates in Conversation

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007 | Apple News, Mac vs Windows | 2 Comments

A report comes by way of iTWire that the All Things Diginal conference in March will feature Steve Jobs and Bill Gates in an onstage conversation.  This is a rare event.  The iTWire reporter describes it as “rarer even than a solar eclipse.”  I anticipate that there will be video footage of this conversation.  The All Things Digital web site is not full developed yet.  However, you can submit your email for notification when the site is live.  This should be interesting.  I’m looking forward to seeing it.

Apple Inc. announced today that they have reached a settlement agreement with Cisco over the use of iPhone trademark.  MacNN reports that the agreement allows both companies to continue using the trademark in the US and UK.  Apple may face the same legal issues in Canada when it introduced the iPhone there.  The companies have indicated that they will look for opportunities to collaborate on integration of their technologies.

Yet another Get a Mac commercial

Its been a year or so ago when Apple Inc. released its first set of Get a Mac commercials. By now its become a regular occurrence. Apple has once again released another Get a Mac ad. Perhaps I’m beginning to sound bored, on the contrary I think Apple has been pretty creative with its ads. They have been able to put together creative and humorous ads. I’ve liked pretty much all of them so far. Some strike my funny bone a little more than others. They all poke fun at Windows, however I can’t help but notice subtle yet very true realities that are ever present in Windows. For example, the new ad titled “Security” pokes fun at Window’s constant nagging of the user to allow various actions. I’ve been using a Mac for almost a year, and only after watching this ad, I’ve realized that the Mac doesn’t bug me with unnecessary and constant requests to allow or disallow various actions. Actually, I don’t recall the last time it asked me a security question. Yet the system has been secure, virus free and very stable.
