Another Mac Enters the World

Sunday, April 29th, 2007 | Mac Resources | 1 Comment

Its been a long wait.  But finally, I have my own Mac.  A little over a year ago I purchased a PowerBook for my wife.  Since then I’ve dreamed of having my own.  When I learned that the next upgrade to Mac OS X, Leopard was to be released in the near future, I decided to wait for the upgrade before purchasing a Mac for myself.

With anticipation I waited for a projection of Leopard’s release date.  In January at the MacWorld Steve Jobs announced that it will be released in Spring of 2007.   At that point it could have been a few more months of waiting.  But I was prepared to restrict the satisfaction of my desires for a little while longer.  However, when I learned that Leopard is being delayed until October 2007, that drove me over the edge.  Another six months of waiting.  I couldn’t wait any longer.  I already had the necessary funds prepared for the purchase anticipating that wondrous day.  So with my wife’s permission, I ordered a 15″ MacBook Pro.

Here are some pictures of the unpacking.  I’ve used it for a couple of days now.  And I love it.  I wish everyone could experience the same joy of purchasing a computer.

I love the way these things are packaged.  Both on the outside and inside everything is thought through.  Not only is the computer designed well, but even the packaging.

It comes with all the regular accessories, the power supply and the extension cord, remote control for Front Row and a VGA adaptor.  Actually MacBook Pro’s are the only model that comes with the VGA adaptor.  If you’re purchasing a MacBook it will not ship with this adaptor.  It really is not a key component, unless you plan to connect to a projector or an external display.

This post comes from my own Mac.  It’s a good feeling.

UK Version of Mac Ads

Apple runs a separate line of Get a Mac ads in Great Britain.  They use a different set of actors and they play on what seem to be more culturally understood nuances.  If all you’ve seen are the US ads, take a look at these.  They are pretty fun.  I especially enjoy the British accent.
