Apple Store Grand Opening

Now Fresno, California has an Apple Store.  This morning, Saturday June 9th, Apple Opened a store in the Fashion Fair mall.  Hundreds of people lined up to celebrate the opening of the store.  The first 1,000 people received a free t-shirt and everyone was able to enter a drawing for some more free stuff.

I was fortunate to be within the first thousand people.  So, I received a free t-shirt and put my name in the drawing for a MacBook and an iPod.  The place was packed.  There were more people than I expected.  I arrived right at 10 am as the store opened and there were probably 500 people already in line.  Without any major promotion of the grand opening other than some mentions in the local newspaper and through email to Apple eNews subscribers the turn out was pretty good.  It wasn’t as big as the opening of the New York store.  But for a city like Fresno it was bigger than I would have predicted.

I’m sure Apple will do well in this area.  The Fashion Fair mall is a happening place.  And this will be the only Apple Store in the Central Valley area of California.

Did you go to the Grand Opening?  Were you one of the first one thousand people to go in?
